Florida Real Estate “Style”

For years, Florida Real Estate has been known for the Mediterranean and Tuscan styles of architecture. These styles are usually constructed with stucco having tile roofs. Roofs slope and have wide overhangs to provide shade.  Archways, verandas, large windows and open breezeways are also used in this style.  Entire communities have been designed and constructed in this very heavy styling.

Entire communities have been designed and constructed in this very heavy styling. The communities are reminiscent of Italy and the Mediterranean.  Common areas featuring large, ornate fountains and bridges.

New home construction has changed dramatically.  Sleek architect, white tile and straight lines are the new designs of the Coastal and Modern building styles.  Others, particularly Key West styles , use bright colors and tropical style.

My personal opinion is that thousands of Mediterranean and Tuscan styles were being built and then left empty when the Real Estate market declined several years ago.  It was the prevalent style of the thousands of homes in Florida that were foreclosed by the Banks.  This style reminds too many people of the “Burst Bubble” in Real Estate.

The Economy is on an upswing.  Builders are constructing new homes.  Developments are reappearing.  The common factor of these new homes – Modern designs.  Cleaner, sleeker, more stylish homes are becoming the norm.   The homes have many new designs using very fresh materials.  Diversity in style and design are the current norm in new home construction.

New Prosperity = New Style = New Designs.  Enjoy!
